What Should Be Paid Attention To When Selecting Materials For Thin-walled Molds

The material selection of thin-walled molds needs to pay attention to the following aspects:

1. Hardness: Thin walled molds need to have high hardness and wear resistance, usually requiring a hardness between HRC58 and 62.

2. Strength: Thin walled molds need to withstand high pressure and high temperature, so the mold material is required to have high tensile strength, yield point, and impact toughness. Commonly used mold materials include 20Cr, P20, etc.

3. Corrosion resistance: Thin walled molds are easily affected by corrosion during use, so it is required that the mold material has high corrosion resistance. Common mold materials include stainless steel, beryllium copper alloy, etc.

4. Cost: The material cost of thin-walled molds is also an important consideration factor. Based on factors such as the batch demand of the product and the service life of the mold, different grades of materials can be selected to balance costs and benefits.

In addition, according to the different application scenarios of thin-walled molds, different material combinations and heat treatment processes can be selected to achieve the required performance. When selecting materials, it is necessary to consider factors such as their processing performance, weldability, and heat treatability. At the same time, in order to ensure the quality and performance of thin-walled molds, it is necessary to strictly control the machining accuracy and quality of materials during the manufacturing process, and adopt appropriate surface treatment processes to improve the surface hardness and wear resistance of the molds.
